1.Apex court refuses to lift ban on jallikattu.

Questioning the need to “tame” a domestic animal like the bull, the Supreme Court on Wednesday dismissed a plea by Tamil Nadu to review a 2014 apex court judgment banning jallikattu . The court further held that the event had nothing to do with the exercise of the fundamental right of religious freedom.  read more

The government told the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday that there were around 2 crore Bangladeshi immigrants staying illegally in India. The number of illegal Bangaldeshi immigrants, who now almost equal the population of Australia, shows a rise of around 67% over the 1.2 crore estimate given out by the UPA government in 2004 but withdrawn soon after.  read more
